Terrible customer service. The 3 guys who moved me did not speak english. It was extremely frustrating. When I complained to Gabriela C, I was called a racist. It took them 33 days to being my things from Alberta to Ontario. They demanded a certified cheque from TD bank only. TD is not my bank and would not give me one. I talked to a man at the company and he asked for half of the money as an etransfer the day before and the remainder in cash upon delivery. On the day they were supposed to deliver, I was informed it would be the next day, only after I called them wondering where they were. When I asked Gabriella why I was not notified, she said she just found out now herself. They were late delivering due to a flat tire. The only upside to this whole experience was the 2 men who unloaded the truck. They spoke English and were very nice. I have some items that are broken. Now I have to deal again with this company to get reimbursement. I would NEVER recommend this company!
STOP, STOP, STOP
If you want to make a contract with Real Canada Wide Moving Company, you better read my story and if you still want to choose this company because of the their cheap quote, then you need to see a psychiatrist. Go ahead and put yourself in trouble.
First of all, this company does not allow you to talk with a person in the claim department over phone, if the claim department exists at all. Done. I believe, this is enough reason to forget this company.
However, I assume you would like to know what happened to me, so I continue my story.
Chapter One: Quote, April 27th
I had to move in one week because of a family issue, so I did not have time read reviews and selected this company based on their good price and professional manner of its agent, later it turned out that I was wrong about both. The princess G, “her name starts with G”, is nice and kind before you pay the deposit. She does not provide you the detail of the moving process. Their policy is that, they don't tell you anything unless you ask.
I got the quote of approximately $2500 for a two bedroom apartment. I live with my wife and we are both students, so you can guess we didn't have too much stuff for moving. I asked for insurance, and the princess G told me that my stuff is covered, however she did not tell me that insurance pays $0.60 per pound. Basically, in their point of view your stuff worth as much as bananas or onions, if not less. She frequently used the term “ don’t worry, we are professional”, now I can tell it is the most false statement to describe this company.
Chapter Two: Packing May 1st
I got the packing service, because I did not want to have any trouble later with insurance, because they don’t take responsibility unless they do the packing. In the day of packing, two workers came to my apartment with crappy boxes. I think it was their first moving experience. I bet they never did their own moving. Short story, I ended up asking them to go and buy some boxes, for which the company charged me for premium packaging without telling me. They did not have special boxes for packing TV, clothes, picture frames and not enough paper for kitchen stuff. As I mentioned before, your stuff to their eyes looks like bananas and onions. So your $300 watch would worth 10 cent, if you got the steel band, and your 4k curved TV would worth $15, which is not enough to even recycle the broken one.
Chapter three: Delivery, July 5th
After having a terrible day, I went for a one month vacation. When I got to the destination, I called the princess G to set a delivery date. She told me they can not proceed unless I pay the full balance. When I got the bill, I was shocked. Nothing has ever surprised me with a bill like that, even crazy driving tickets. The total was approximately, $4500!! What the heck, I called princess G hoping that she can explain it to me. The only conclusion that I made from my call was that the proper name for princess G would be monster G. She told me that the weight of my stuff was over 4000 lbs, then I said why in the initial quote it was estimated 2500lbs. Her answer was hilarious, the Monster G said “ stuff gets some weights because Ontario is more humid than Alberta”. You can guess how angry I was when a stupid person like MONSTER G provided some scientific nonsense reasons to a person who hold PhD in mechanical engineering. I had no choice to pay the bill because without that I could not even set the delivery date and I needed my stuff ASAP.
I apologize if you got bored from the story, but bear with me as you got the interesting part of the story. The first available spot for delivery was 5 days later the date I called, and they suggested morning spot, which means anytime between 9:00am to noon. In the day of delivery, I started calling the delivery patch from 11:00am to get update about my delivery. The guy on the phone said truck is on its way, but it stocks in a bad traffic in highway 401. At 1:00pm I called again and asked for the driver cellphone, at that point they told me that the truck is broken and my delivery was postponed to the next day. Oh my god, I had to have this nightmare for another day.
Next day came, and the truck showed up at 1:30pm. I just wanted to get my stuff and finish this torturing game. The first scene that I was looking at when the driver opened the gate was a crushed coffee table. It was crushed so bad that I felt sorry for its owner, and I did not realize that poor owner is me. If you may think I am exaggerating here is the photo of my coffee table. If you want to see the photo of damaged stuff please send me an email and I provide you more photos. The driver said, “don’t worry the insurance would pay for all damages”.
Chapter Four: Claim Process, August 20th
I called the MONSTER G to get information about the claim process. They asked me to send photos of damaged stuff to an email and wait for 4 to 6 weeks. I did it, and no one even confirmed that they received my email. Thanks god, I persisted the MONSTER G to send me an email confirming that they received my email. After one week of follow-up I got the email. No update after 6 weeks. I called the MONSTER G and she transferred me to another Monster Lady, she said I need to send the email again and wait another 4 to 6 weeks. I requested to talk to a supervisor in claim department over the phone, and the Monster Lady said, they don’t have any phone in the claim department. I think when an office, a section, or a division is opened in a company, the first thing that is assigned to it is a phone number. I figured out that the claim department is just an email that no one would read it unless you call them several times. So if you are in this situation, first of all it is so unfortunate; second, don’t waste your time as no one give a __ to your emails.
At that point, I informed them that I am recording our conversations over the phone and anything they say might be used against them in court. After which, the MONSTER G and Monster Lady accepted to connect me to the manager, who was very impolite and rude. Short story, one week later, I got an email from the claim department. The total process of claim took about 40 days. Below is a part of the email I received from the claim department:
“The insurance Real Canada Wide Moving carries is a basic standard liability. This insurance pays out at 60 cents per pound, with a $350 deductible, to be paid by the customer.
(The item you claim weights 450 lbs x0.60 =$270.00
($270.00 -$350.00 (insurance deductible) = -$80.00
It is always important for us to leave satisfied customers behind us and we do really want to resolve this issue for you, Even though your case is not entitled to receive any refund; we will send you $300.00 ($350 deductable waive) = $300.00 cheque. “
The END
It was my responsibility to inform other customers about what might be waiting for them if they dial the phone number of this company. If you want to have a perfect terrible and disgusting memory from your moving the Real Canada Wide Moving is the best company to approach.
You see some 5 star reviews, which are fake and created by the company employees.
I want to clarify that I have not worked for any moving company and I have nothing to disclose. What I wrote was with my most honest and I am ready to present in court as a witness if it is required. If an employee, probably MONSTER G, from Real Canada Wide Moving commented on my review and called me a layer, please email me, and I will answer all your questions.
I noticed that they answered my review on the Homestars.com website, and instead of explaining their terrible service they accused me for being racist. OK, I am not going to discuss about their wrong statement because it is not the subject of my review. I wish they could explain their terrible service.
Good luck in your moving and don’t even think about the Real Canada Wide Moving (cheating) Company.
My name is Elizabeth, I live in Victoria Bc. I asked my mom who lives in Ledbridge Alberta to move in BC with us. I got an excellent quote from Real Canada Wide Moving Services, with an extra 5% Senior discount. Because my mother is a senior we got a full packing package which was done very professionally. Nothing was damage or lost , I am glad we listened to our friends recommendation. I was told in the beginning that they don't allow jewellery, real plants and also any liquid chemicals. I was also told how long it would take for my shipment to arrive and also I was also given advice about the insurance. I recommend this excellent and very reasonable service to everyone.
Not only do I have damage to my property I'm missing several items including my jewellery box, all software for both my computers, a printer/scanner for my computer, my winter coat and other clothing. All my government papers, tax returns for seven years, medical receipts, credit card statement and payment. passwords for banking info, Revnue Canada documents are just to name a few items. I've had to cancel all credit cards and cheques and have not been able to work because they have the software that I need for my computer. There were also several boxes that were opened and re-taped which tells me that this possibly is not just a moving mishap. I was thinking this was an isolated incident until I went back to read other reviews only to find out that several people are going through the same thing and they have received items that weren't theirs. They also can't get a reply from the company or find their property. I now believe that the three reviews that were previously posted about this company before I booked my move were likely fake as there are too many negative ones now. If anyone reads this and they are going through the same issue with this company, please contact me at devilishlynilla@yahoo.com as I plan to take legal action and you likely should too.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Protect yourself and your belongings!
Please do yourself a favour and do not use this company. Not only do I have damage to furniture, I'm missing my jewellery box and contents, all my personal documents which include cheques, past paid bills, income tax receipts, warranties for electronic devises, credit card info, a printer/scanner, all software for both my computers. They make you pay before they bring your items into the house and they left damaged items on the truck until the end even though I requested they be brought in at the beginning as they were at the front of the truck. This is just the tip of the iceberg. I was told I would have my belongs in seven days but it took 16 days. They have yet to return my missing items and although they told me that they contacted other people who they delivered to, I've spoken with other customers and they were never contacted about my property. Neither was I contacted about their property missing. The company refuses to talk to you over the phone to rectify the situation or at least help you find your property. I've now had to call numerous government offices and financial institutes to cancel everything in my name and have it all reissued. I don't think the previous reviews were authentic because too many people are complaining now. If you have had a similar experience with this company (Real Canada Wide Moving Services, please contact me at devilishlynilla@yahoo.com Thanks
Update: I've now had contact with several others customers who have dealt with this company and they are going through the same issues. Of note, it's very interesting to see that one particular 'positive' review on another site was actually made by the owner, Eric Levy, himself.
I would like to recommend it Real Canada Wide Moving to everyone. They have a good price and a good services. Of course they are not like Atlas Van Lines etc. I got perfect rate from them when I move from Montreal to Edmonton. I have 1500 lbs and before I booked with them I got a quote by e-mail. For 1500 lbs they gave to me $990.00. End of the my move I exactly paid $990.00. They kept their promise and no hidden cost. Now I kept my promise to them and I write here. With many thanks

Made the mistake of booking with this company. Unfortunately I did not do my research or check for previous complaints with BBB. They failed to deliver a mattress that they picked up during a move and were not able to locate it for over six weeks. They tried to get us to accept someone Else's used mattress to substitute and thought that was reasonable. After 6 weeks of chasing phone calls, emails and not getting our mattress we had to buy a new one. They have refused to acknowledge their responsibility and to date will not provide compensation. Interesting, they seem to have a wide array of mattresses to choose from, so their failure to deliver appears to be a problem not confined to my experience. I found dealing with them to be frustrating, and they could care less about their responsibilities toward customers especially once they have your money. If you value your belongings, do not deal with this company. Do your research when looking for a reliable mover and don't repeat my mistake!
If you value your belongings, do NOT hire this company to help you with your move. The only pleasant experience I had was the actual pick-up and delivery, which was done by workers hired from a different moving company. They were professional, careful and efficient. The opposite is true when you actually have to deal with staff from the Real Canada Wide Moving Company itself. I scheduled my delivery a day earlier than planned about a week in advance, which was simply forgotten and could not be retrieved from any computer entries. The quote I got from a Real Canada Wide Moving estimator was likewise not accessible to the pick-up crew, but we resolved the issue. My shipment went from Alberta to Ontario and was going to take 10-12 business days (which was ok with me). Unfortunately, they never cared to inform me that the shipment was delayed, until I phoned a few days before scheduled delivery to inquire about the time window of delivery. They claimed to have a mechanical problem with the truck (which, if you read small print, means they can be as delayed as they want and the customer cannot claim any re-imbursements). They could not even estimate the day that it would be delivered. If you move across provinces into a new home in a town where you no nobody, every day without kitchen equipment counts! Not to speak of clothing etc. The delivery was finally scheduled by a company local to my new hometown, and I got their phone call at a time when Real Canada Wide Moving Company was still at a loss as to when my shipment would be delivered (which turned out was 4 days later than planned). The delivery crew was as professional as the pick-up crew, yet as I was not told the total balance in advance and had to pay the truck driver before they would unload, I had to use my credit card. The Real Canada Wide Moving Company charged me an additional 106$ (a percentage of the full moving cost) for credit card use, which not avoidable under the circumstances. I have been in contact with them ever since (over 2 months ago) about the delay in delivery and the unexpected charge for credit card use. They confirmed they received my ‘claim’, but have not had time to process it. The latest I heard, the manager was on vacation. The service and organization within this company is a disaster. Do yourself a favor and go with more professional movers, I don’t know what would have happened if some of my belongings got lost or heavily damaged, but I predict handling such things with the company would turn into an absolute nightmare. .
Please avoid using this company by all means! They charged a lot of money for a very few furniture and all my furniture was broken and damaged. They didn't want to take responsibility at all. Gabriela O'cay was very rude to me. They said that my furniture was broken already but I have proof of purchase (almost brand new furniture). Lots of hidden costs and the list goes on. Please avoid yourself many troubles and pass the voice around!! :(.
We had the misfortune to select this company to move in Alberta. The contract included storage for a few days. When the delivery was made at least 75% of what they wraped using blankets was damaged. Their claim procedure is a joke. They have no interest in settling claims, they simple offer a token amount to have the customer go away. They are unprofessional and unresponsive in their approach. Do yourselve a favor, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
